CNC Programmer - Mastercam

Title: CNC Programmer (Mastercam)
Location: Norfolk, VA
Pay Range: 80K -$110K (DOE)


Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled CNC Programmer with strong experience in SolidWorks and Mastercam to support the programming and production of precision components for CNC mills and lathes. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, highly proficient in CAD/CAM software, and capable of working closely with machinists and engineers to ensure high-quality, efficient manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs using Mastercam for multi-axis CNC mills and CNC lathes
  • Interpret engineering drawings, models, and GD&T requirements
  • Create 3D models and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks
  • Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, and machining strategies to maximize efficiency and quality
  • Collaborate with machinists to troubleshoot and improve machining processes
  • Perform program prove-outs and make necessary adjustments on the shop floor
  • Ensure all programs meet quality standards, tolerances, and production timelines
  • Maintain organized documentation of programs, setups, and revisions
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to cycle time, tooling, and process optimization
Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of CNC programming experience for mills and lathes
  • Proficiency in Mastercam (required)
  • Strong experience with SolidWorks for modeling and design
  • Solid understanding of machining processes, tooling, and materials
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T
  • Experience with multi-axis machining preferred
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with complex or tight-tolerance components
  • Knowledge of fixture design and process optimization
  • Familiarity with shop floor setup and operation
Work Environment:
  • Manufacturing/shop environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and metalworking processes
  • Collaborative team setting with engineers, machinists, and production staff
